Marketing

This project is chaired by Robin Davison of Wolviston Management Services. Clare Smart, of Balfour Beatty Management, will undertake the role of coordinating the marketing function.

Main aim: To raise the profile of the Tees Valley as a centre for excellence in engineering at 3 levels:

1. - In schools, with pupils, teachers and parents

- Within the local engineering sector, creating greater awareness of local capabilities and supply chain possibilities

- Promoting collective capability, nationally and internationally.

2. To develop this web-site as a strategic marketing tool; as a shop window of opportunity for potential inward investors..

3. To create a high profile for TVEP and it's current activities and for success stories from current members. (see news section)

Capability Survey - Now complete!

TVEP have conducted a Capability Survey of  the engineering sector in the Tees Valley. This piece of work, which is now complete, is strategically important in that no such intelligence exists at present. Feeding accurate and current information about the capacity and capability of the sector into the local and regional decision-making process will add huge value to the engineering sector in respect of attracting new contracts and inward investment.

Visioning Exercise

Visioning is a futures based strategic planning programme, allowing an insight into the composition of the engineering industry over the next 10-15 years. TVEP are to revisit the futures exercise carried out n 2005. TVEP require information on the changing horizon of the sector and are particularly keen to understand how evolving technologies will affect products and processes and generate new value for engineering companies.

This valuable work should identify issues around the introduction of new technologies and provide material for the development strategy. These conclusions will provide a basis for the Economic Engineering Strategy that TVEP will present to Regional Bodies on behalf of the engineering sector.

Information is collated by a process of road-mapping exercises in facilitated workshops comprising of key engineering personnel. A road map is a time-based chart that breaks down current and future issues for further analysis. This provides a forecast in to how future customer needs drive the new product agenda of the industry.
