Teesside based Cordell Group has further expanded its engineering capabilities with the acquisition of a well established, NICEIC approved and accredited, panel building and site installation company, Cranford Controls Systems Ltd.
Located in Marden, Kent, 10 miles south of Maidstone, Cranford Controls Systems provide a comprehensive service in the design, manufacture and installation of MCC's and control panels, and are specialists in building management and HVAC electrical installations carried out in commercial and industrial environments.
Formed in 1992, Cranford Controls Systems has grown in size in terms of employees and turnover. The business was set up to operate on a sole trader basis and now operates as a private limited company.
Cordell Managing Director Dave Rush commented " Cranford Controls Systems is a well developed 'going concern' and will be operated by Cordell as a wholly owned subsidiary company. Former owner Brian Broad will continue to manage the business and all employees will stay, however the company will have the benefit of the support and backing of the whole Cordell Group".
This acquisition brings 23 employees to Cordell Group and adds an additional £1.6 million turnover to Cordell's already impressive £27 million turnover.
Cranford Controls Systems business is predominately in the commercial sector of electrical contracting, which compliments and extends Cordell's more industrial based trading activities.
Cordell EC&I Director, Gary Lawson said, "the acquisition of Cranford Controls Systems is an excellent strategic fit with Cordell's other electrical contracting activities, all of which will be boosted by the addition of the new workshop and 23 strong workforce. We look forward to working together and expanding the team further as well as expanding into new markets".
This acquisition will allow Cordell to develop its business into the new market sectors of Building Management Systems and Data Centres as well as to reach new clients in London and the South of England.
"This acquisition will enable Cordell to pursue a greater volume and broader range of business, whilst providing us with a platform from which to sell its other business activities into the South of England" adds Dave Rush. "The acquisition is Cordell's first outside of the North of England and we look forward to further acquisitions across the country".
Cranford Controls Systems has a comprehensive client base, which includes major blue chip companies, utility providers, NHS trusts, armed forces and all major control system providers, building management and HVAC system integrators.
Cordell aim to continue making the most of nation wide acquisition opportunities in 2007 in order to strengthen its position as one of the countries leading engineering contractors.
