Charitable Donation at TVEP Open Forum
01-12-2009
TVEP, the voice of the region’s Engineering Supply Chain, utilised the November Open Forum to hand over a donation of £630 to Butterwick Hospice. Thirty leaders from local engineering organisations were at the event, held at Wynyard Park on Friday, to witness Mick Thurlbeck, TVEP CEO, donate speaker fees he received from the Institute of Engineering Technology’s Annual Dinner, to Butterwick Hospice.
The Open Forum is TVEP’s bi-monthly communications event which offers members the opportunity to network with peers, whilst hearing updates from each of the TVEP’s working project groups, partners and guest speakers on themed issues relative to the regions engineering businesses.
This month’s key note presentation was given by RTC North with a focus on the Design Network North initiative which supports one of the core focuses of the TVEP in the advancement of new technology in terms of funding, advice, facilitation and information.
At the end of the morning’s formal proceedings, Ian Basford, TVEP Chairman, presented the cheque to Anne Cooling, Butterwick Hospice Care, Head of Corporate Development, who later said: “We are delighted to thank The Institute of Engineering Technology and Tees Valley Engineering Partnership and especially Mick Thurlbeck, Chief Executive, TVEP for this generous donation.
We are very grateful to these companies for their commitment to Butterwick Hospice which provides invaluable end of life care to local people and aims to improve the quality of life for patients and their families; to help them relate positively to all the challenges encountered during their illness.”
