The Tees Valley Engineering Partnership has congratulated another of its existing members after they were awarded a substantial contract in the renewable fuels sector. 

Member organisation, Baker Mallett, which has its North East base in Stockton-on-Tees, has been appointed as Project Managers and Co-ordinators of two planned £100million Bioethanol Plants, which are being developed by North Yorkshire- based company, Vireol plc.

The proposed Bioethanol plants, which will be constructed in Teesside and Humberside, will each eventually produce up to 150,000 tonnes of Bioethanol per year.  They will be the largest plants in the UK to produce this renewable alternative to mineral and fossil fuels, and could create more than 70 jobs.

Working on behalf of Vireol plc, Baker Mallet will undertake full project management and coordination services for the duration of both builds, with work expected to begin in early 2007 for completion in 2008 and 2009.

The specialist construction cost consultancy and project management firm has already assigned a team of three staff to coordinate the project full-time, led by their recently-appointed Regional Associate, Paul Begley.

This project follows a number of successes for Baker Mallett in the renewable fuels sector, including their recent involvement in the successful completion of the new £35 million Biodiesel Plant at Seal Sands. 

The news also follows a similar announcement from Tees Valley Engineering Partnership member, Wolviston Management Services, which recently acquired Yoh! UK Staffing Solutions, increasing their annual turnover by more than £3.5million per annum.
