TVEP outlines strategic opportunites for business leaders

TVEP held a breakfast briefing at Middlesbrrough's Riverside Stadium and attracted 70 business leaders including senior representatives of 30 engineering companies.
Malcolm Potter, Partnership Manager, emphasised the point that the Engineering Partnership represented a unique opportunity for the engineering sector to become involved in the local strategic decision making process.
The sub-regional partnership, Tees Valley Partnership, is currently developing it's strategy for the develppment of the Tees Valley City Region through to 2016. TVEP is regarded as the organisation that can advise them about what is needed to be done to ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the engineering sector over this period of time.
Keynote speaker, Mayor Ray Mallon. reiterated the essential need to encourage young people into apprenticeships and to convince educatonalists about the value of vocational education alongside academic qualifications.
